Interview with Fashwire

FASHTALKS WITH REDD ACCESSORIES

Designer Interview

What inspired you to pursue create your own brand?

After losing a few expensive fine jewelries, I promised myself never to buy anything that made losing it so hard! This pursuit is behind my line of modern and timeless jewelry that one can enjoy for decades without the worry!

Did you always know you wanted to be a designer? Why or Why not?

I've enjoyed creating and working with my hands for as long as I can remember; I think it's in my DNA! I took one jewelry class and immediately fell in love with the craft! What started as a hobby soon blossomed into my destiny!

What was your previous work experience before launching your brand?

I have a BA in interior design and worked in a commercial firm. Despite the satisfaction I got from that challenge, I felt limited and not entirely in control of my vision. I believe my background gives me a greater understanding of shape, form, and the juxtaposition of different materials. It gives me the tools to create pieces that stand the test of time!

If you could do something different before starting your business what would it be?

Looking back, I realize that I wasn’t ready for what it takes to run a business and would’ve benefited from professional help vs. trial & error!

"Success, to me, is a return customer!"

What was the toughest circumstance you overcame when just starting out your business?

I knew from the beginning who my client is; finding the right venue to meet her was the challenge!

How important is social media to your brand?

It is essential to have a presence in social media, but it’s not what defines my brand.

How do you define fashion?

Fashion is fun, yet temporary! Style is what shows individuality and lasts. “Slow fashion” and the mission to hit the brake on excessive production, overcomplicated supply chains, and mindless consumption intrigue me. Instead of chasing trends, I design enduring styles with layering options and create classic and versatile pieces to last a lifetime.

What does the word “success” mean to you?

Success, to me, is a return customer!

"I want to remind all women that we are strong and beautiful. The color red stands for strength and empowerment, and the name REDD is to ignite energy, passion and action."

Do you see your brand ever expanding into a different avenue? Why or why not?

I enjoy the process from conception to completion of each piece. The freedom to explore and create without boundaries is what drives me. My goal is to stay focus and continue my passion, just the way it is!

Are you passionate about something other than fashion?

I love being a mom to my 2 adult boys! Love playing tennis, hike, and laugh!

If you were not in the fashion industry what other industry/job would you be in?

I look at what I do as a passion and can’t imagine life without it!

What is the inspiration for your brand’s name?

So glad you asked! I want to remind all women that we are strong and beautiful. The color red stands for strength and empowerment, and the name REDD is to ignite energy, passion and action.
